ENGLAND’S rocky road to the final saw results equivalent to Tottenham failing to beat Exeter and Portsmouth in 90 minutes.

England currently sit fifth in the Fifa world rankings and when comparing the list to the Premier League table, Spurs finished in that position last season.

The Slovakians are 43rd in the world, according to Fifa, which puts them in the position of third tier champions Portsmouth.

England beat Switzerland on penalties in the quarter-final as the heroes converted all five spot-kicks.

The Swiss are ranked 19th in the world, which would see them in the Premier League relegation zone, taking Burnley’s place.
