Amazon is selling a ‘brilliant’ kitchen gadget for making DIY Starbucks and Costa iced coffees that can ‘save a fortune’

COFFEE lovers have said they are “saving a fortune” thanks to a kitchen gadget that allows you to make Starbucks- and Costa-style iced coffees at home.

Whether you like your caffeine fix steaming hot or over ice the simple at-home system can brew it in minutes… with no need to part with your hard-earned cash.

The Breville Iced+Hot Coffee Maker has been reduced in price by 33% ahead of Amazon’s Prime Day and is now scanning for £44.99.

A medium iced Americano from Starbucks will cost you around £3.55 depending on where you buy it, so if you buy one every day that’s £24.85 a week and £99.40 a month.

In Costa a medium iced black Americano will cost you around £3.05, depending on where you buy it, so a daily coffee will set you back £21.35 a week or around £90 a month.

So, even given that a pack of Starbucks ground coffee could set you back around £4.50, an at-home system could be saving you money in around two weeks.

The Breville system requires coffee lovers to fill the reservoir with water, add ground coffee and then select whether they’d like their beverage hot or cold.

Customers seem to be impressed with the gadget building up a 4.4/5 rating from 1,988 reviews.

One happy customer said: “I’ve used this little machine every day for almost two months now and I love it! Really easy to use, perfect results every time. Very happy.”

Another added: “Love this – my son spends a fortune (of my money) on iced coffees so I got him this and he loves it.”

A third said: “Tastes as good as the coffee shop iced coffee that I have been spending a fortune on. It will save me money for sure.”

Another added: “Tastes amazing just like you’d pay £5 for in a coffee shop.”

Reviews were not all perfect however and some customers did comment that the machine dripped, while others said that the cup was tricky to clean.

There are several other iced coffee machines on the market, including Aldi’s Ambiano iced coffee maker, which was reduced to £12.99, from £19.99, last week.

Amazon also has a Drew & Cole iced coffee machine available for £37.99 (at time of writing) as well as cold brew systems for around £20.

Before you make a purchase remember to shop around and check you’re getting the best price on the market.

And bear in mind that just because something is on offer it doesn’t mean you’ve saved money.

If you weren’t planning on buying the item in the first place then it isn’t necessarily a steal.

Amazon Prime Day

  1. Only buy what you need
  2. Compare prices – Amazon isn’t always the cheapest
  3. Use a price tracker to spot duds
  4. Look out for price-matching from rivals
  5. Check if you can save up to 30% extra on Amazon Warehouse, which sells returned or mildly damaged items
