7/15/2024: Higher heat, higher humidity, few storms

The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:

Hot and humid today, with highs in the low 90's and heat index values closer to 100 in the Hudson and Mohawk valleys. A Heat Advisory is in effect for these areas, be sure to limit strenuous outdoor activity during the heat of the day.

The increased humidity will lend itself to a few showers, downpours, and thunderstorms this afternoon. A few severe storms can't be ruled out, with heavy rain and gusty winds presenting the main threats. Stronger storms look a bit more likely west of the Capital District.

A few showers may linger into this evening or overnight. Otherwise, expect warm and muggy conditions with lows in the low 70's for most.

We do it all over again tomorrow - more heat, humidity, and afternoon storms. Like today, expect actual highs in the low 90's and "feels like" temps in the neighborhood of 100 in the river valleys.

Wednesday may be a bit less hot with more widespread showers and storms - but sky high humidity still makes for a steamy and uncomfortable feel. Thankfully, we get a well-deserved break for the end of the work week. Thursday and Friday are in the low to mid 80's with significantly lower humidity.

A bit warmer and perhaps ever so slightly more muggy for the weekend - but nothing that will rival the intense humidity we've got in place today/tomorrow/Wednesday. Stay cool out there!
