Premier League TV fixtures for opening weeks revealed with bizarre Super Sunday kickoff time for Man Utd vs Liverpool

THE fixture list for the new Premier League season has a few bizarre schedule changes on Sky Sports.

As Manchester United’s mouth-watering match against their fierce rivals Liverpool will not kick off at the traditional time slot.

Normally, Super Sunday’s games begin with a 2pm kick-off followed by the more prestigious match at 4.30pm

But during the third Premier League weekend United will host Arne Slot‘s Liverpool half-an-hour before the usual time.

Likewise, Newcastle will play Tottenham at 1.30pm and Celtic face bitter rivals Rangers in the Old Firm derby at 12:30pm on Sky.

The reason for the shift in scheduling remains unknown – but it is the only Super Sunday currently effected.

Last season United’s 2-2 draw with the then title chasing Reds kicked off an hour early after the police requested it.

Local authorities have taken issue with kick-off times and often believe that starting the game an hour or even 45 minutes earlier leads to less trouble and fan disturbance.

A mix of policing concerns, transport woes and even a scheduling mix-up has previously contributed matches kicking off earlier.

It was the reason why United’s FA cup tie with Liverpool kicked off at 3.30pm, as did the Manchester derby earlier in the season.
