Pixel 9 Pro XL leak shows slick new look for upcoming Google phone – and rumours claim it’ll be more expensive too

FRESH leaks of the highly-anticipated Pixel 9 Pro XL have emerged online showing some possible changes to the design.

Google is holding a launch event where the brand new handset is expected to officially break cover next month.

But numerous leaks and rumours may have already given the game away already.

A video hands-on has been shown off on TikTok by the Pixophone account, appearing to show the Pixel 9 Pro XL in the flesh.

Etchings on the back suggest these may be prototype versions of the smartphone so there could be some differences in the final release.

And if the leaks are to be believe, it seems like the smaller Pixel 9 and the 9 Pro XL may have a key design difference.

The Pixel 9 is seen with a glossy back to it, while its bigger sibling has a matte finish instead, which is far less prone to hand and fingerprint smears.

However, the pair flip things around when it comes to side rails, with the smaller model appearing to be matte and the 9 Pro XL seeming to be shiny.

Both also show a large strip along the back housing the camera lenses and light.

This time around, the Pixel 9 is rumoured to launch with a 6.24-inch screen, while the 9 Pro XL is said to feature a 6.73-inch display.

It all comes after another leak claimed to reveal the pricing Google is going for this year – albeit in Euros, so pounds and dollars could vary.

Dealabs reported that the Pixel 9 will come in four colours – Obsidian (Volcanic Black), Porcelain (Porcelain), Cosmo and Mojito – starting at 899€ for the 128GB storage option, which works out at £755 / $981.

The Pixel 9 Pro will apparently come in Obsidian, Porcelain, Hazel (Sage Green), and Pink colours.

For 128GB it’s said to cost 1,099€ (£923 / $1,199), 256GB it’s 1,199€ (£1,007 / $1,308) and 512GB it’s 1,329€ (£1,116 / $1,450).

The biggest of the bunch, the Pixel 9 Pro XL, is rumoured to launch in the same colour range.

  • 128GB: 1,199€ (£1,007 / $1,308)
  • 256GB: 1,299€ (£1,091 / $1,417)
  • 512GB: 1,429€ (£1,200 / $1,559)
  • 1TB: 1,689€ (£1,419 / $1,843)

There’s also rumours of a Pixel 9 Pro Fold too, in Obsidian and Porcelain.

The 256GB version is slated to cost 1,899€ (£1,595 / $2,072) for 256GB and 2,029€ ( £1,705 / $2,214) for 512GB.
