Ben Shephard finally resurfaces after ‘sleeping through GMB appearance’ after England’s Euros final

BEN Shephard has finally resurfaced in Germany after his awkward no-show on Good Morning Britain today.

The TV star, 49, watched England‘s Euros final against Spain in Berlin last night with his good friend Chris Kamara.

After a late night, the footy fan ended up snoozing through his scheduled virtual reunion with former colleague Kate Garraway on GMB this morning.

However, this afternoon he announced he was safe and well with an Instagram photo alongside Chris and Rylan Clark.

The trio looked happy, if not a little tired, as they beamed for the selfie.

Earlier in the day Kate and co-host Richard Madeley – who hadn’t been seen on GMB for weeks before making his comeback – had told viewers Ben would be returning during the episode.

Yet as former England boss Sam Allardyce, 69, and ex England player John Terry, 43, appeared on video links from their respective homes in Bolton and Surrey, Ben was nowhere to be seen.

Before giving viewers a debrief of England’s 2-1 defeat, Kate took a cheeky dig at her pal.

She said: “We were also supposed to have Ben Shephard but it seems he is taking his own personal bank holiday.

“He has not got up so far this morning, we will see if we can wake him up.”

She then joked to Sam and John: “Feel free to lampoon him both of him while you talk.

“I know you know him very well.”

The German capital was the hottest ticket in Europe last night with Piers Morgan among the celebs there to support England.

Danny Dyer was in attendance with his family, cheering on forward Jarrod Bowen, who is in a relationship with his daughter Dani.

As was comedian Rob Beckett, Ed Sheeran, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles.

CLOSE BOND

Kate previously joked how Ben was “dead” to her after leaving GMB.

Ben fought back tears on his last Good Morning Britain, which aired on February 23.

Soon after, he headed to the studio next door to front This Morning with Cat Deeley, 47.

Speaking at the Variety Awards this year Ben gushed over the differences in his new job – including cooked meals and more sleep due to the later start time.

He said: “They cook for us, we get a lie in and it’s generally more civilised.

“Do you know what, I couldn’t have done This Morning without my 10 years doing what I do with Kate and Susanna and Charlotte – and Ranvir and Laura being a part of the team as well.

“I mean, the last 10 years has flown by hasn’t it?”

Kate, who was seen shaking her head, then jokingly interjected: “He’s dead to us, he is dead to us.”

She then pushed him aside in a tongue-in-cheek moment.
