Queen’s Park have reached agreement with Port Vale for the transfer of Ruari Paton to the English League 2 side for an undisclosed fee.

Ruari was only with Queen’s Park for one season following his move from Queen of the South however he made a very positive impression as he found the net 22 times.

The Dublin born 23-year-old started this season by scoring in friendly matches against Kilmarnock and Celtic however he did not feature in Saturday’s win at Peterhead as he had headed south for discussions with the Stoke-on-Trent club.

With these discussions concluded the clubs have agreed to the transfer with Queen’s Park’s Callum Davidson saying: “It is no surprise that Ruari has attracted interest and secured a transfer to English football. He was fantastic for us last season and people in football are always looking out for goalscorers so we thought something may happen this summer.

“It has now and we wish him well.”
