Assam not to send pre-2014 immigrants to foreigners tribunal

The Assam government has instructed the state police to not forward cases of eligible individuals under the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 who entered India before 2014 directly to Foreigners Tribunals. Instead, these individuals should apply for citizenship through the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), with their applications assessed by the Government of India.
