According to Sunday’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Nottingham Forest have jumped the queue ahead of Tottenham to land Nikola Milenkovic, having now submitted an offer for the centre-back.

Nikola Milenkovic is a popular target this summer

Milenkovic has been an extremely consistent and reliable performer for Fiorentina over many years and despite being linked with big moves in almost every transfer window, nothing has materialised so far.

That might be about to change this summer, with TBR Football reporting last month that several Premier League sides, including Spurs, have shown interest in signing the versatile defender.

It now appears that Nottingham Forest have jumped to the front of the queue.

Forest make the first move for Milenkovic

This information has now been backed up by Corriere dello Sport, who say that Tottenham, Forest, Aston Villa, and Fulham are all keen on securing Milenkovic.

It is Nuno Espirito Santo’s men who have allegedly made the first move, with the club said to have now submitted an ‘important offer’ for the Serbia international.

The report adds that La Viola are minded to accept the bid as they are keen to trim their wage bill, with the 26-year-old currently being the highest earner on their books.

Milenkovic can play at centre-back and right-back, thus potentially being a useful squad player for Ange Postecoglou.

However, there is no concrete evidence to suggest that Tottenham have shown a serious interest in the Fiorentina star this summer.
