OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - The Oklahoma City Zoo is showing its support for wild rhino conservation at the 30th annual Bowling for Rhinos fundraiser.

According to the Zoo, the event is planned for Friday, July 19, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at Bowlero, 3501 S. Boulevard St. in Edmond.

"Bowling for Rhinos is perfect for wildlife fans of all ages. Families, teams, and individuals are welcome to participate. Coming together for the common goal of rhino conservation, bowlers across the continent are taking the unique opportunity to help protect and secure habitats for rhinos and other wildlife in Asia and Africa." said the OKC Zoo.

Officials say since 1995, the Zoo's American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) chapter has hosted the bowl-a-thon to inspire Oklahomans to join conservation efforts. Since then, more than $373,000 has been raised as OKC's AAZK chapter is a top ten fundraisers in North America.

It is $40 (plus fee) per individual bowler and includes two games, shoe rental, a T-shirt and pizza. Spectator tickets are $25 (plus fee), and includes a T-shirt and pizza. There will also be opportunities to win raffle prizes. To learn more or purchase tickets, visit this link.

The OKC Zoo is home to two female Indian Rhinos; Shanti, 36, and Niki, 16, who live at Sanctuary Asia. According to the Zoo, Indian Rhinos are native to India and Nepal and are also known as greater one-horned rhinos. They can weigh up to 3,000 pounds and are recognized by their single horn and rough skin that looks like armor.
