Body found near ESU campus

Update 2:04 p.m.: The Emporia Police Department says they received a report of a person or possible medical emergency in the tunnel underneath Interstate 35 on the north end of the campus at 7:04 a.m.

Officers from ESU police, Lyon County Sheriff's Office and Emporia Fire/EMS responded and discovered the body. No foul play is suspected.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.

EMPORIA (KSNT) - The Emporia State University (ESU) police department is working an investigation after finding a body under an overpass.

The ESU Vice President and Chief Marketing Operator Kelly Heine confirmed with 27 News that a body had been found under Interstate 35 on the north end of the campus on Monday morning.

Heine said the university couldn't provide immediate details until the next of kin was notified.
