Cannon's 'crazy nutwing' ruling is 'the first Project 2025 decision': ex-DOJ official
Having digested Judge Aileen Cannon's bombshell ruling that dismissed charges against Donald Trump for stealing and hoarding sensitive government documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort, former U.S. Deputy Assistant Attorney General Harry Litman was not impressed.
Cannon's ruling stated that special counsel Jack Smith was an unconstitutional appointment, which has legal scholars bluntly stating it contravenes long-established case law.
Litman joined the chorus by taking to his X social media platform and noting it is just the first shot of what to expect if Trump is elected and the controversial Project 2025 is implemented.
Along the way, he compared her 93-page ruling to what he labeled similar 'crazy nutwing" legal arguments that stand no chance of going anywhere.

On X he began, "Canon‘s opinion is the first Project 2025 decision: law displaced for a first principle of loyalty to Donald Trump."
That led to him positing, "To really earn her keep, Cannon needed to dismiss before the election in time to give them a boost," before concluding, "This would be somewhat analogous to a district court judge’s deciding case on the ground that brown v board education was wrongly decided – there are some scraps of crazy nutwing opinion for that proposition as well, and tons of Supreme Court precedent against, as with this one."
