1. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, 2017 – 165 runs

The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma destroyed the Sri Lankan bowlers at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore with a fantastic knock of 118 runs off just 43 balls. KL Rahul also played a fine innings of 89 as India posted a mammoth total of 260/5 in 20 overs. This 165-run stand became the highest opening stand for India in T20Is at that time, but now it shares the record with another partnership.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, 2023 – 165 runs

The opening pair of Gill and Jaiswal obliterated the West Indies bowlers as India managed to chase the target of 179 in only 17 overs at the Central Broward Park in Florida. Gill (77) and Jaiswal (84) both played terrific knocks.

3. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, 2018 – 160 runs

Rohit (97) and Dhawan (74) gave India an explosive start against Ireland in Dublin. Thanks to their incredible 160-run opening stand, India went on to post a massive total of 208/5 after 20 overs.

4. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, 2017 – 158 runs

Both the batsmen played a blistering knock of 80 runs each at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi. Their partnership of 158 runs was crucial in taking the Men in Blue to a huge total of 202/3 in 20 overs.

5. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, 2024 – 156 runs

Chasing a modest total of 153 against Zimbabwe, Jaiswal (93) and Gill (58) helped India achieve the target in only 15.2 overs and that too without losing a single wicket.
