Crocs has unveiled a new collaborative design with the Japanese sci-fi media franchise Gundam in honor of its 45th anniversary. The Gundam All Terrain Clog, available to shop on July 23, features a design resembling the robot known as RX-78-2.

The RX-78-2 robot was first seen in Yoshiyuki Tomino’s anime series “Mobile Suit Gundam,” which debuted in 1979. The series has spawned several sequels and spin-offs in the intervening years, with the robots in the franchise involved in various military storylines.

The new Croc features red, blue and yellow color-blocking, with these bold primary hues coloring in a close-up of RX-78-2, including details like its yellow vents. The shoe features a slate grey base, visible on the inside and bottom sole as well as along the sides. A blue strap along the side of the shoe reads “RX-78-2” in white lettering. Crocs is also offering several new Jibbitz inspired by the sci-fi franchise, designed in red, white and yellow hues that match the shoes.

This collaboration applies the Gundam design to Crocs’ All Terrain Clog, which Crocs describes as including a more rugged outsole and adjustable Turbo strap. Designed for “the harshest environments,” the shoe boasts increased traction and support thanks to the upgraded tread of the lug outsoles.

Crocs is regularly unveiling new collaborations — partnering with brands ranging from Cinnamon Toast Crunch to Bath and Body Works. While steadily producing new shoes, Crocs also has an expanding takeback program for pre-owned shoes and is working to reach a net zero emissions by 2040.
