OHSWEKEN, Ont. (July 12, 2024) Nitro 54 Variety and Sit n’ Bull Tire presented night two of Thunder on the Grand at Ohsweken Speedway on Friday; Dylan Westbrook, Brett Stratford, and David Pangrazio took A-Main wins.

Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars
Joe Trenca and Liam Martin brought the 30 car field to the green flag for the 360 Sprint Car A-Main. Trenca led the race briefly before Martin overtook him for the lead on lap two. Jac Nickles brought out a caution on lap three as he spun around in turn three. The restart was cut short due to Ryan Coniam coming to a stop in turn one. Once racing resumed, Dylan Westbrook vaulted to the lead.

Lap eleven saw Martin have a nasty flip as his car was turned into a pile of twisted metal, immediately bringing the red flag out. Martin climbed out of the wreck unharmed. The closing laps of the race saw once again saw Westbrook drive away picking up his seventh victory at Ohsweken this season. The win also completed a sweep of both Thunder on the Grand 360 Sprint Car A-Mains for $15,000 total in two nights. Finishing next were Mike Bowman in second, Nick Sheridan third, D.J. Christie fourth, and Jason Barney fifth. A competitive field of 37 cars were entered for the event thanks to the cooperation of the Empire Super Sprints, Great Lakes Super Sprints, and Southern Ontario Sprints tours.

Strickland’s Crate Sprint Cars
Brian Nanticoke started on pole with Lance Erskine next to him for the 25 lap Crate Sprint Car A-Main. Stratford made quick work of the front row drivers, leading the opening lap. Traffic became a factor for Stratford in just four laps. Jesse Costa was racing as if he was driving on rails however, catching up to Stratford by lap twelve. Before Costa could set up the pass for the lead, a caution flag fell as Tyler Ward came to a stop in turn two.

Stratford led the restart successfully, making sure Costa stayed behind. With five laps left, a late-race caution came out and set up a dash to the checkered flag. Stratford once again led the restart, but this time Costa was right there with him. On the last turn of the race, Stratford and Costa came together and bounced off each other. Stratford inched just ahead of Costa coming out of turn four, having the momentum to cross the finish first. Stratford successfully swept the Thunder on the Grand Crate Sprint A-Mains. Costa had to settle for second, while Erskine finished in third, Andrew Hennessy fourth, and Nanticoke fifth.

Northeast Late Model Alliance
David Pangrazio and Steve Baldwin led the Crate Late Models to green, starting the 25 lap NLMA A-Main. Pangrazio led the opening laps until he lost the lead to Baldwin due to a restart after a caution flag came out on lap three. Another caution flag appeared two laps later with Pangrazio repaying the favour back to Baldwin and reclaiming the lead on the restart.

A terrifying wreck occurred on lap 17, bringing out the red flag as Ryan Goudie flipped in turn one. Goudie pulled himself out of his car unharmed and the relieved crowd cheered after learning he wasn’t hurt. A late -race caution flag produced a six lap sprint to the finish, which saw Pangrazio stepping up to the challenge and locking down the victory. Finishing next were Baldwin in second, Brandon Mowat third, Craig Graham fourth, and Kyle Sopaz fifth.
