OHSWEKEN (July 11, 2024) – Marc-Antoine Camirand picked up his first Ohsweken Speedway victory in the NASCAR Canada Series race on Thursday, while Dylan Westbrook and Brett Stratford enjoyed Sprint Car A-Main wins during the first night of Thunder on the Grand weekend.

NASCAR Canada Series
The Freshstone Dirt Classic 100 lap race saw Chase Briscoe and Andrew Ranger start on the front row of the NASCAR Canada Series stock car field. Briscoe led the opening laps with Marc-Antoine Camirand clipping at his heels. Camirand overtook Briscoe for the lead on lap eight just as a caution flag came out due to debris on the track. Briscoe suffered a flat tire during the caution laps, losing his front row restart position. Camirand and Ranger pulled away after the restart. Glenn Styres went for a spin to bring out the caution flag on lap 19 with just six laps left in Stage One. Camirand closed out Stage One with the lead.

Stage Two began where Camirand left off as he once again put a sizable margin over the field, catching up to traffic on lap 38. Briscoe worked himself back into the top five and battled for third place with NASCAR legend and dirt track ace Ken Schrader. Styres was enjoying a season best performance when an untimely driveshaft failure made his car inoperable, bringing out another caution flag. Camirand went on to finish the second stage in first again.

The final stage of racing made it noticeably clear that Camirand had the car to win the race as he began to overlap the other drivers just 13 laps after the restart. The final caution of the race came out with 25 laps to go due to more debris. Camirand ran away with the remaining laps, setting a pace that no one could match and taking a well deserved win. Crossing the finish line next to round out the top five were Ranger in second, Schrader third, Kyle Steckly fourth, and Briscoe fifth.

Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars
Ryan Turner and Jac Nickles brought the field to the green flag for the 360 Sprint Car A-Main. Ryan Turner led the first lap to only have Nick Sheridan overtake him on the very next lap. Glenn Styres flipped on lap five, bringing out the red flag. Styres was unharmed with little damage to his car and he was able to race on. A succession of caution flags followed, which allowed Dylan Westbrook to cement his position to the front of the pack.

Westbrook took the lead on lap 13, never looking back as he checked out and took the $5,000 win. Sheridan had to settle for second, matching his career-best finish in 360 Sprint Car competition at Ohsweken. Next to finish were Ryan Turner third, Mike Bowman fourth, and Matt Farnham fifth.

Strickland’s Crate Sprint Cars
Niko Hansen started on pole with Brett Stratford next to him for the 20 lap Crate Sprint Car A-Main. Stratford brought a rocket ship for the race as he blasted out to the lead, starting to lap the field in just five laps. Meanwhile, a three-way battle ensued between Lance Erskine, Brent Begolo, and Johny Miller for third place, with the three putting on an impressive display of race craft.

This was Stratford’s night though, as he led every lap of the race and picked up his biggest career race win in Sprint Car competition. The rest of the top five were Rob Neely in second, Erskine third, Begolo fourth, and Miller fifth. This race was the quickest 20 lap Crate Sprint A-Main in the track’s history.
