Man shot and killed outside of Chickasha apartment complex

State agents are investigating a homicide in Grady County.

CHICKASHA, Okla. (KFOR) — State agents are investigating a homicide in Grady County.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is working alongside the Chickasha Police Department and the Grady County Sheriff's office.

This comes after a deadly shooting happened outside of a Chickasha apartment complex Monday morning.

Authorities say a man was shot and killed outside of Winding Creek Apartments.

Hunter McKee from OSBI says the motive behind the shooting is unknown at this time.

Residents living at Winding Creek were shocked after they woke up Monday morning.

They described seeing a heavy police presence and caution tape.

"We just saw a bunch of cop cars and people standing outside," says Joseph Maddox.

Joseph's wife Emily, also in shock over the incident.

She says, "It's really unexpected because we're in such a secluded area. Everybody's minding their own business."

Officials say the suspected shooter is under arrest and has been transported to the Chickasha Police Department.

OSBI officials say no one else at the complex was injured.

Police are talking to neighbors and other possible witnesses hoping to find out what happened and why.
