1-year-old child in Alameda domestic shooting dies

The suspect is being held without bail and is set to be arraigned on felony charges July 22..

ALAMEDA – The number of people killed in a domestic shooting last week in Alameda now stands at five following the death of a 1-year-old boy, according to authorities.

The Alameda Police Department announced the child’s death in a news release Monday.

“The city of Alameda is very sad to share that baby Wesley, the fifth victim in the tragic domestic shooting that took place Wednesday, July 10, did not survive his injuries and passed away at a local hospital,” police said.

The suspect in the mass killing is the boy’s father, 54-year-old Shane Killian. Prior to the announcement, he was charged with four counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and other felony charges.

The other victims are Killian’s 36-year-old wife Brenda Natali Morales, 6-year-old son William Killian, 70-year-old father-in-law Miguel Angel Carcamo Ramirez and mother-in-law Marta Elena Diaz Morales.

Officers were called to Killian’s home in the 400 block of Kitty Hawk Road at 9 p.m. on July 10 and found one of the victims, a man, dying from a gunshot wound outside. Killian emerged from the house and was arrested.

Ramirez identified Killian as the murder suspect before he died, according to court documents.

Police said the suspect and victims lived together at the home for about six months prior to the killings.

Killian has no other criminal history in Alameda County, according to court records.

The mass shooting was the city’s worst since 1985, when a woman and her three children were murdered by a boarder who died by suicide.

Killian is being held without bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges July 22.
