Sherwood man, 20, identified as victim of fatal Sellwood Park shooting

The man who was killed at Sellwood Riverwood Park on Friday night has been identified, Portland police announced.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The man who was killed at Sellwood Riverwood Park on Friday night has been identified, Portland police announced.

Asher Mendes, 20, died of homicide by gunshot, according to the medical examiner.

Just after 11:15 p.m., Portland police officers responded to a report that someone had been shot in the park. On arrival, they found Mendes dead at the scene.

Portland police say they believe many potential witnesses were in the area at the time of the shooting and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
