WATCH: Avery Johnson with K-Nation at Big 12 media days

LAS VEGAS (KSNT) - Avery Johnson has one of the more interesting situations of any Big 12 quarterback ahead of the 2024 season.

Johnson only has one true start at quarterback, a Pop-Tarts Bowl victory at the end of his true freshman campaign, yet carries very high expectations from the Wildcat football program and its fans.

Chris Klieman told reporters, at Big 12 media days in Las Vegas, that he believes Avery Johnson has the ability to be the league's best quarterback.

Johnson answered all sorts of questions in his trip to Las Vegas with his head coach and four teammates. He also took the time for a one-on-one interview with 27 Sports Director Glenn Kinley. That interview aired in Sunday's edition of K-Nation.

"Just continuing to show my passing ability and go out there and make plays and get the ball to playmakers in space," Johnson said, regarding what he hopes to showcase as a sophomore.

He says his receiver group is capable of more than many people may realize. He also discussed trying out the new college football video game and how he balances football with other responsibilities.
