Reported vandalism leaves Topeka store owners with heavy concerns

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Multiple businesses at the corner of Southwest 29th street and Wanamaker road were targets of vandalism over the weekend.

Early Saturday morning at around 2:00 a.m. the Topeka Police Department (TPD) responded to a report of vandalism at CBD American Shaman, Vapor World, and Batteries Plus Business Check.

CBD American Shaman window's were found completely shattered. Store owner, Eric Kueser, tells 27 News his two reasons why people vandalize CBD and vapor stores.

"One, they don't like it. They don't enjoy us being in the community," said Kueser. "The other motivation, obviously, ya know, they break in to steal product."

Both stores reported no product stolen, but Kueser is asking for new security to try and prevent future acts of vandalism.

"I think we need security to patrol out here," said Kueser. "Maybe we can get our landlord to go in with a couple other plazas where we could just get a security guard that just drives around between here and over at the Hy-Vee plaza."

According to the businesses the culprit was caught on camera, and TPD spokeswomen Rossie Nichols tells 27 News an investigation is ongoing for all three vandalized businesses.
