Emporia Main Street discusses upcoming events

EMPORIA (KSNT) - Emporia Main Street Executive Director Casey Woods joined the 27 News Morning Show to discuss upcoming events in the city.

Woods said Emporia has seen 2.4 million visitors so far this year. He expects tens of thousands to attend several upcoming events.

This Thursday 'Sunset Stroll' an event for exploring, shopping and dining will see shops, restaurants and bars open with special promotions.

On Aug. 19, Emporia Main Street will be hosting a 'Welcome Back Block Party' for local students. Woods said the block parties usually attract thousands of people.

Later, on Sept. 14, Woods expects 14-15,000 attendees for the 'Great American Market'. According to the Emporia Main Street website, attendees can expect food trucks, antiques, collectibles, plants, clothes, jewelry and more for the shopping event.
