Storms leave AEP customers without power

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- The quick but strong line of storms that moved through central Ohio Monday afternoon left more than 10,000 AEP customers without power.

As of 11:15 p.m., AEP reported 5,389 customers without power in its service area across the state. The bulk of them -- 3,061 -- were in Franklin County. Most of those were tied to outages in the south and southwest portions of the county.

According to AEP's outage map, most of the outages are still being investigated and did not estimate when service would be restored at this time.

The earliest estimated restoration times, according to AEP's outage map, are for outages in the northern part of the county, with some outages estimated to be restored by 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

One outage at the Hawthorne Woods neighborhood in Grove City, affecting just over 1,000 customers, has no estimated restoration time. Another outage near the Scioto Grove Metro Park, which at one point affected more than 1,100 customers, has had some service restored, with AEP estimating a restoration time of Tuesday at 3 p.m. for those still without power.

At one point, AEP was reporting more than 10,000 customers statewide without power.
