Shubman Gill Draws Criticism For Inconsistent Show vs Zimbabwe From Former BCCI Selector

It is surprising to see Karim making a comment like this on Gill, as the India captain was the leading run-getter of the series with 170 in five games.

Delhi: India captain Shubman Gill’s team beat Zimbabwe during their T20I tour recently. Despite India winning the series 4-1, former BCCI selector Saba Karim does not seem to be impressed with Gill. The former India wicketkeeper went on to claim that he was expecting more from Gill during the series. It is surprising to see Karim making a comment like this on Gill, as the India captain was the leading run-getter of the series with 170 in five games.

“Shubman Gill as a captain and a batter. I was expecting a little more consistency in Shubman Gill’s batting. That was a little lacking. However, he performed fantastically as a captain. Pressure mounts on any captain after losing the first match, and that too a young captain,” Karim said on Sony Sports.

On the other hand, Karim heaped praise on the other Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. Karim reckoned Jaiswal was splendid as he was batting after a very long time.

“However, despite that, he got his players to rally splendidly. Jaiswal scoring runs. He didn’t get a chance in the World Cup. When you haven’t batted for a long time and haven’t played matches, it’s not easy to show form as soon as you come. However, we saw that,” Saba Karim elaborated.
