Hit Paramount+ drama green-lit for brand new series – as bosses confirm major time jump

A HIT Paramount+ series will be back for a second series – with a slight shake-up to kick things off.

This psychological thriller is based on a book of the same name and premiered in October 2022.

The Ex-Wife, starring Celine Buckens and Tom Mison in the lead roles, will be back for another outing.

The pair are reprising their roles as Tasha and Jack respectively, following series one’s four episode run.

Rizzle Kicks’ Jordan Stpehens will also return to play role of Sam, an old friend of Tasha’s.

Meanwhile, Irish actress Katie McGrath, known for her roles in Supergirl and Jurassic World, has been cast as Jen, the titular Ex-Wife.

She replaces Janet Montgomery, who played the character in series one.

The first series followed Tasha, a young woman married to middle-aged husband Jack.

Although the two appeared to be happy, Tasha was haunted by Jack’s ex-wife Jen – though the story proved more nuanced as the plot unfolded.

Viewers will find the second series picking up three years after the first, with Tasha now hiding in Cyprus with daughter Emily (Liberty Miller).

While living under false identities, Tasha has started a new life for herself and her daughter.

However, she is forced to abandon her fresh start when she learns that Jack has been released from prison early – having only served a year of his sentence.

Jack appears to be a changed man, grieving the death of his daughter and searching for redemption from a newly engaged Jen.

Filming for the new series is currently underway in Cyprus.

After originally airing on Paramount+, the show also aired on Channel 5 last year – although fans were left feeling a sense of déjà vu.

Taking to X, one viewer wrote: “Watching The Ex Wife on Channel 5 but feeling like I’ve already seen it.

“Apparently it was featured on Gogglebox, so that must be why I’m getting déjà vu.”

Another added: “I feel like this is a repeat. I’m sure I’ve seen this before?”

A third agreed: “Feels like déjà vu because of Gogglebox,”

The Ex-Wife airs on Paramount+.
