Amazon Prime Day video game deals offer steep discounts and free titles for members

It feels like Christmas in July and that’s because Amazon Prime Day is here. The two-day event has plenty of discounts on items, including the company’s own branded products and ones from major brands. When it comes to gaming, publishers have a few solid discounts on titles while there’s dozens of controllers, mice and keyboard from peripheral makers to up your game.

Here are some of the notable ones. I’ll be checking for more deals as Prime Day continues:

Free games for Prime Members: As part of the extravaganza, Amazon is giving away three games to its members via the Epic Game Store. They can pick up “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,” “Chivalry 2” and “Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration.” You have to snap them up quickly because they’ll be gone when Prime Day is over July 17. You can claim them here.

Square Enix — The publisher usually has a few good deals and this Prime Day is no exception with the great “Octopath Traveler II” on sale for 50% off at $29.99 on PlayStation consoles. The game is available on Xbox Game Pass, but this is an opportunity to own a copy. If you’re looking for a release that’s more recent and a game of the year contender, “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth” is selling for $54.99, a slight price cut, and this Amazon Edition comes with a PS5 controller skin.

The company for its Japanese role-playing games also has “Star Ocean: The Second Story R” and “Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince” available at a heavy discount.

Ubisoft — “Assassin’s Creed Mirage” was a welcome throwback to how the series used to be. It’s not a long epic but rather a focused adventure following the journey of Basim. Fans can pick it up for $28.40, which is a deal at 53% off.

“Granblue Fantasy: Relink” — If you missed out on getting this title on Steam or the PlayStation Store for discount, you have another chance to buy a physical copy for $39.99. At 20%, the discount isn’t as good as the digital version, which was at 30%, but it’s better than nothing plus it could be a deal for collectors.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge” — This project harkens back to the heyday of the beat-’em up, one of the most popular genres at the arcades. Players and their friends take on the role of heroes in a half shell and some of their friends as they battle their archnemesis. It’s a great game for $24.99 on the Switch. Prime Members can also claim it for free on the Epic Games Store.

Sega Astro City Mini — For those who have a bit of arcade nostalgia, Limited Run is offering a Sega Astro City Mini arcade cabinet. This is a fully functioning arcade machine (aside from not accepting coins) and at 1/6 scale production, it can fit on your desk. It includes37 arcade hits such as “Virtua Fighter,” “Shinobi,” “Altered Beast” and “Puyo Puyo.” It’s priced at $99.99.

SteelSeries headsets — If you’re looking for a better audio experience, these devices are some of the best offering good to great sound quality with lightweight comfort. For those who are into bells and whistles, the Arctis headsets can connect to your smartphone so that you can answer class, chat on Discord or listen to music while you game. The Arctis 7X+ headset costs $99.99, which is $50 below the MSRP.
