Despite the excitement surrounding the match, some fans were more concerned about other topics – namely, Vernon’s fashion.

After Carlos Alcaraz claimed his second Wimbledon title – Vernon posted a photo on Instagram, although his attire got people talking.

Having sparked a conversation, one of the Radio 2 presenter’s followers asked: “Is that a padded t-shirt? ,” followed by a laughing face emoji and tennis and bicep emoji.

Another chimed in: “Got your smedium on I see! Looking good @vernonkay.”

While a third shared: “Nailed it this morning Vern… defo a smedium.”

The next day, Vernon addressed the remarks about his navy blue T-shirt during his BBC Radio 2 show, sharing how a “lot of people did comment” on his outfit.

He revealed: “It’s a strange morning, it doesn’t feel like a Monday morning after the huge weekend of sport.

“Went to a couple of barbecues, got invited to a big barbecue for the match yesterday.

“I went to Wimbledon, I posted a picture of myself outside Wimbledon outside Center Court and a lot of people did comment on the smedium t-shirt.

“I went with the smedium. Someone put ‘are you wearing a padded t-shirt there Vern? ‘ and I went ‘yes, padded full of man’.”

Vernon wasn’t the only famous face at the match, with the likes of Julia Roberts, Zendaya and Benedict Cumberbatch also reported to have been in attendance.

Another discussion in his comments section concerned fans questioning VIP treatment at high-profile events.

One penned: “I’m going to be mean really sorry. I Love your radio 2 show Vernon you are the best but how do all you famous folk get all these front row tickets. I’m no socialist but it’s just so unfair.

“All that Royal box rubbish, fancy goodie bags. What about the rest of us who can’t get a look in.”

To which he simply replied: “Show-Business.”

Meanwhile, another follower raged: “How about donating your ticket to a good cause other than your ego??”

In response, Vernon wrote: “If you got invited to the men’s Tennis final, would you turn down the invite that’s ‘none transferable’??

“Not sure you would.”
