Sales of 8-inch Fire tablet soar by 6,900% on Amazon as price gets cut from £120 to £50 for Prime Day

PRIME DAY has arrived, and I’ve spotted a spectacular deal on one of Amazon’s Fire tablet, which has become a best-seller on the site.

The Fire HD 8 tablet has been slashed from £119.99 to just £49.99 and sales have absolutely skyrocketed.

Prime Day has arrived, and the Fire 8 tablet is now available at a drastically reduced price amidst the sale frenzy

£49.99 (was £119.99)

Amazon has dropped the prices of every last device in its Fire tablet range as the 48-hour sale for Prime members kicks off .

Top of the list, in my view, is the Prime deal on the 8-inch Fire HD 8 Plus tablet, which has dropped from £119.99 to a mere £49.99.

I noticed this deal as it’s the top-selling product on Amazon’s electronics movers and shakers list.

This list highlights the hottest items right now, and with a generous 58% price drop, it’s clear why the Fire 8 Plus tablet has claimed the top spot.

In just the past day, sales have shot through the roof, surging by a staggering 6,983%.

Amazon’s devices usually get their biggest price cuts during Prime Day, but remember, you need to be a Prime member to snag these deals.

Not a member? Fear not: anyone can sign up for a 30-day free trial and instantly gain access to the thousands of discounts up for grabs over the next two days.

If a new tablet is on your wishlist, the Fire HD 8 Plus is one of my top recommendations.

It features a spacious 8-inch high-definition display, making it an excellent choice for families, especially if you have kids.

Like its sister device, the Fire 8 tablet, it comes with 32GB of storage for all your apps and content, and an identical 13-hour battery life.

The ‘Plus’ factor here truly shines with its 5MP rear camera, a big step up from the Fire 8’s 2MP, and it also boasts a charging time that’s two hours faster.

For me, it hits the perfect balance between the more basic Fire 7 tablet at £44.99 and the Fire HD 10 tablet, which goes for £74.99 on sale.

Buyers seem to agree, awarding the 8 Plus tablet an impressive 4.5 out of 5 stars, as glowing reviews pour in.

“The HD8 Plus is worth the extra over the HD8,” said one buyer, who added: “The extra performance is noticeable. It’s faster and operates more smoothly. Highly recommended.”

Another shared: “[I] bought the tablet for travel and for basically watching movies and such whilst on the plane and transfers. Brilliant clear picture and good sound quality too, not too bulky to manage in a handbag or when travelling light.”

I’ve already come across some fantastic deals in the Prime sale, and one of the standout finds for me is on another of Amazon’s entertainment hubs.

Just last week, during an early access sale for members, the 55-inch Fire TV dropped from £550 to £330. It’s a steal, so grab it while you can before the sale wraps up.

Our Senior Writer, Matt Breen, is also cashing in on the savings, snagging two Echo Dot speakers for the price of one to create an affordable multi-room music setup.
