Cauvery water row: 1.5 tmcft flowing to TN daily, says Karnataka Deputy CM Shivakumar

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced to the Legislative Assembly that due to increased inflow into major reservoirs in the Cauvery river basin from good rains, 1.5 tmcft of water flows daily to Tamil Nadu's Biligundlu, potentially resolving the water release issue. The Cauvery Water Regulation Committee directed Karnataka to release 1 tmcft of water daily to Tamil Nadu until month-end. The state's reservoirs are at 63% capacity, impacting daily water release. Opposition Leader R Ashoka suggested that recent rains may help resolve the Cauvery water issue.
