Lightning strike causes structure fire in Middleburgh
MIDDLEBURGH, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Fire officials responded to a structure fire in Middleburgh late Monday night caused by a lightning strike. No one was injured in the fire.
Authorities say the fire began when lightning struck a shed and that fire spread to the house. Crews told NEWS10 that the house is a total loss.
There was a second house on the property that was able to be saved.
"We were able to save the residence next to the house," said Mike Walsh, Huntersland Fire Department Fire Chief. "There are two buildings on this property, the secondary house was being restored and we managed to save that house."
An investigation into the fire is ongoing.
