Our reporters and editors spend the better half of the year trying out the best vacuums, and lucky for you, during Amazon Prime Day, the best of the best are on sale. The event kicked off today, July 16, and continues through tomorrow, July 17. It is one of the best times all year to upgrade your vacuum cleaner, whether you're after an upright, cordless, handheld, robot, or wet-dry vacuum.

All the top floorcare brands are participating, including Dyson, Shark, Bissell, iRobot, Samsung, Hoover, Miele, and Ecovacs. The list of deals is extensive, like half off an iRobot Roomba and a cordless Dyson vacuum for under $300. These discounts are going fast, though, with savings of up to 55% off, so make sure to take advantage of them and the many lightning deals.

The best Amazon Prime Day robot vacuum deals

Automate your floor cleaning with one of the best robot vacuums. There's something for every price point. Starting with budget models under $150 like the Shark Ion Robot Vacuum for $130 or eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S MAX also for $130. These basic devices lack smart features and incorporate random bounce navigation to clean floors, but do a decent job picking up debris. 

For a little more, you can enjoy added convenience and efficiency with self-empty models and smart home mapping. For instance, the Shark AI Ultra Robot Vacuum has both those features and more at just $250. For an upgrade, we really like the iRobot j7+ Robot Vacuum, which holds up to 60 days of debris and has excellent obstacle avoidance technology from pet accidents to shoes. It's on sale for $400, and one of the lowest prices we've seen on this model. 

Meanwhile, combo wet and dry robot vacuums are rapidly gaining popularity to further streamline cleaning. The Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni represents a top-of-the-line combo experience with auto-cleaning and drying mop pads makes your floor routine a truly hands-off experience; it's a major $600 off. Meanwhile the Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and Mop utilizes an interchangeable mopping pad that gives floors a nice polish, and is at an all-time-low price of just $350.

The best Prime Day cordless vacuum deals

Cordless stick vacuums are beloved for their convenience and portability. They're lightweight, and many of today's best cordless vacuum cleaners can rival even the most powerful uprights. However, battery life and suction power can vary across models. Tried and true cordless vacuums we love include the Shark Vertex Pro Cordless Stick Vacuum for $250, while the Dyson V15 Detect Plus is 25% off and one of the lowest prices we've seen on this high-tech model. Both hold their own when it comes down to the best vacuums for pet hair too. 

Best wet-dry vacuum deals

The best wet-dry vacuums streamline floor cleaning with the ability to vacuum and mop at the same time, and now you can score one for cheap! We've tried a sampling of the best models on sale for Amazon Prime. Yes. This will be one of the best times ahead of Black Friday to save on the latest and most popular vacuums from all the major players in the floorcare space. We've seen savings up to 50% off and have browsed hundreds of product listings to find the best deals on top vacuums, many of which we've tested throughout the year. 

What vacuum type should I buy?

This comes down to personal preference, budget, and needs. Upright models are typically the most affordable and powerful and excellent for whole-home, deep cleaning. Smaller homes and those with accessibility needs will get on well with lightweight and portable cordless stick vacuums, many of which have suction capabilities that can rival their corded, full-size counterparts. You will have to be mindful about keeping the battery charged, and smaller sizes typically mean more frequent stops to empty the dustbin. Robot vacuums are great for automating your cleaning, but their capabilities and effectiveness can vary, especially when it comes to budget. Finally, wet-dry vacuums also cut down on cleaning time with the ability to mop and vacuum at the same time. They're great for homes with lots of hard floors, but if you have any carpets or area rugs, you'll still need a traditional vacuum.
