Jennifer Garner’s ‘Very Favorite Lunch’ Is a Tuna Rice Bowl That Comes Together in a Snap — It’s So Easy, She Can Make It in Her Trailer

Jennifer Garner knows the value of an easy throw-together lunch. Her lunch breaks can be short while she’s on set, so she loves finding recipes that come together in minutes. And this ahi tuna rice bowl recipe that she prepared for her latest episode of Pretend Cooking Show on Instagram is not only fast to make, but it’s delicious to eat, too.

“I almost always bring my lunch to work, even though breaks are unpredictable and can be short,” Garner wrote in the caption of her Instagram post. “This bowl is my favorite speedy meal — lunch or dinner.”

“I chop the greens fresh (so they aren’t wilted), bring the protein from home (cooking fish in a trailer — nope!), and my new @kitchenaidusa Grain & Rice Cooker weighs and cooks the most perfect rice that’s ready when I’m ready,” she continued. “Seriously, it does all the work for you, it’s so smart. One major note: you must double/triple the lemon & garlic infused oil and thank me later. Yum.”

Prep for this recipe actually starts the night before when Garner prepares the tuna at home. The tuna steaks are first marinated for an hour in oil, grated lemon zest, chopped fresh thyme, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, and salt and pepper. Then, Garner sears the tuna on both sides before placing it in a storage container and bringing it with her to set the next day.

When lunchtime comes around on set, Garner heads to her trailer and prepares her brown rice using KitchenAid’s new Grain & Rice cooker and then tops off her brown rice serving with freshly chopped kale, avocado, and her ahi tuna. She then likes to drizzle a bit more of that marinade she made the night before over the bowl and season with salt and pepper before diving in.

“Man, this is a good way to go,” Garner said after tasting her creation. This lunch sure beats whatever’s on the craft services table!
