Third person arrested for carrying knife

A 22-year-old was remanded for seven days on Tuesday for carrying a knife and possessing an offensive weapon.

Two other people, aged 22 and 20, are already in custody for the same case.

The 22-year-old was arrested on Monday and was taken before Famagusta district court on Tuesday.

The court heard that on Sunday, a kiosk owner in Ayia Napa filed a complaint concerning the use of stolen credit cards.

Policemen investigating the complaint stopped two people outside the kiosk, aged 22 and 20, who appeared to have used stolen credit cards earlier.

During a search, the two were found to be in possession of two knives and were arrested.

Their residence was then searched, where police found 14 mobile phones and two laptops.
