Shoppers go wild for ‘bargain’ garden furniture set slashed from £150 to £50 at an unexpected shop

EAGLE-eyed shoppers have bagged themselves £100 off garden furniture – just in time for the summer months.

The Studio Oxford 6 Piece Patio Set originally retails at £149.99 on the Sports Direct website.

Shoppers can pick up the bargain buy at Sports Direct and other websites

But the price has been slashed to only £49.99 – a saving of 65%.

It comes with four chairs, a round table, as well as a parasol for those looking to relax in the shade

A post on the Extreme Coupons and Bargaining group on Facebook read: “This is a nice bargain! received mine.”

And other bargain hunters were quick to comment

“Yes, that’s the kind of set I was looking for” said one keen eyed shopper, keen for a deal

“That’s a wicked price” said another.

The deal is currently available online from Sports Direct, which is more known for sporting clothes and goods, though it’s shipped by Studio. Both shops are owned by Frasers Group.

You can also buy it at Studio for the same price, which is currently giving customers a minimum of 50% off items on offer in its big summer sale.

Customers can also purchase the set at House of Fraser with the same discount.

Whichever site you buy from, remember to factor in the delivery costs too.

The closest we could find to the patio set was the Laurel Moonless 4 Seater dining set with parasol at B&Q for £76.

For those who want to go all out entertaining over the summer Studio has a number of other items in its sale including a Tiki 3 piece Bar set reduced from £299.99 to £99.99 – perfect for cocktails in the sun

They also have pop up Gazebo reduced from £99.99 to £39.99 and soft furnishings such as the Fusion Indoor Outdoor cushions reduced from £22 to £11.

Getting the best deal

Now that the summer sales are on, the savviest of shoppers should be able to pick up some great bargains – but only if they hop around.

The quickest way to do this is to use price comparison websites which search the web for the best prices from retailers.

Sites such as Price Spy not only logs the cost of products from over 3,00 retailers, but also its price history – so you can check just how good a deal you are getting

Google shopping also allows users to search items by product number or key word to see where its selling the cheapest – and both of these services are free!

How to bag a bargain

SUN Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to find a cut-price item and bag a bargain…

Sign up to loyalty schemes of the brands that you regularly shop with.

Big names regularly offer discounts or special lower prices for members, among other perks.

Sales are when you can pick up a real steal.

Retailers usually have periodic promotions that tie into payday at the end of the month or Bank Holiday weekends, so keep a lookout and shop when these deals are on.

Sign up to mailing lists and you’ll also be first to know of special offers. It can be worth following retailers on social media too.

When buying online, always do a search for money off codes or vouchers that you can use vouchercodes.co.uk and myvouchercodes.co.uk are just two sites that round up promotions by retailer.

Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. Trolley.co.uk app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping.

Bargain hunters can also use B&M’s scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out.

And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you’ll get some of your money back or a discount on the item.

Its also worth looking to see if some of these items are available on cashback websites such as Topcashback – so you can make money on your purchase.

Or, if the item you want isn’t currently in the sale, you can check out discount code websites such a Groupon who currently have an Acacia Wood Furniture set reduced from £179.99 to £117.49.
