Ah, sweet, sweltering summer! ’Tis the season to bring a compulsively readable novel to the beach — or hole up with one in the privacy of your (hopefully) air-conditioned home. So naturally, we’re bringing back our seasonal pop-up newsletter, Beach Read Book Club.
This time, we’re discussing Taffy Brodesser-Akner’s Long Island Compromise, a novel that seems to ask “What if Succession, but for an ultrawealthy family on — you guessed it — Long Island?” It opens with the kidnapping of the father in his driveway and probes the reverberations of that trauma in the years to come.
Starting Wednesday, August 14, a group of New York’s writers and editors will be dissecting the book over the course of five weekly newsletters. We’ll also feature — and respond to! — reader questions and comments in each edition. And all of our newsletter readers will receive an exclusive discount code from our partners at Bookshop.org.
We really hope you’ll join us — sign up below!
