Will Jeremy Allen White’s winning streak for ‘The Bear’ continue at 2024 Emmys?

There’s no question about it: Jeremy Allen White is having an unprecedented winning streak for “The Bear.” Two Golden Globes. Two Critics Choice Awards. Two Screen Actors Guild Awards. One Emmy Award (so far). In fact, when it comes to televised awards shows, the 33-year-old actor is undefeated for FX’s cooking dramedy. Next up are the 2024 Emmys, where he is the unanimous pick of Gold Derby’s Experts to win his second trophy. (Remember, even though Season 3 of “The Bear” is streaming now on Hulu, it is Season 2 that will be contending for Emmy Awards.)

White plays Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, the new owner of a Chicago beef restaurant following the tragic suicide of his brother. The first two seasons followed Carmy’s plans to change the sandwich shop into a high-end restaurant, with mixed results. Along the way, he gets the help of his cousin Richard “Richie” Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), his sous-chef Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri), his sister/co-owner Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto (Abby Elliott), and more.

As of this writing, all 17 of our Emmy Experts predict a second victory for White in Best Comedy Actor: Ben Travers (Indiewire), Christopher Rosen (Gold Derby), Clayton Davis (Variety), Dave Nemetz (TVLine), Eric Deggans (NPR), Jazz Tangcay (Variety), Joyce Eng (Gold Derby), Keith Simanton (IMDb), Kelly Lawler (USA Today), Matt Roush (TV Guide Magazine), Peter Travers (ABC), Ray Richmond (Gold Derby), Shawn Edwards (WDAF-TV Fox), Susan King (Gold Derby), Susan Wloszczyna (Gold Derby), Thelma Adams (Gold Derby) and Wilson Morales (BlackFilmandTV).

The other four likely nominees, according to Gold Derby’s combined odds, will be Martin Short (“Only Murders in the Building”), Steve Martin (“Only Murders in the Building”), Larry David (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”) and Theo James (“The Gentlemen”). Potential spoilers include Kelsey Grammer (“Frasier”), Jharrel Jerome (“I’m a Virgo”) and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (“Reservation Dogs”).

If he proves victorious this year, White would follow a long line of men to win the Best Comedy Actor category twice (or more). Recent such examples are Jason Sudeikis (“Ted Lasso”) in 2022 and ’21, Bill Hader (“Barry”) in 2019 and ’18, Jeffrey Tambor (“Transparent”) in 2016 and ’15, Jim Parsons (“The Big Bang Theory”) in 2014, ’13, ’11 and ’10, and Alec Baldwin (“30 Rock”) in 2009 and ’08.
