Not only that, but Daly was seen walking the links in a pullover sweater and neon green, yellow, and blue tartan shorts.

The 58-year-old has about two years left on his exemption entrance into The Open for being a past winner.

The rules give the outlandish Californian golfer the right to play in the tournament up until age 60.

Daly won the 1995 edition of The Open at St. Andrews in Scotland after defeating Costantino Rocca in a playoff.

The American golfer’s other major win came in the PGA Championship in 1991.

Over the course of a remarkable career, Daly has developed a reputation as one of the most entertaining stars in professional golf.

His outfits have become the stuff of legend and last year Daly hit the headlines when he adorned striped shorts and a Donald Trump top.

Nicknamed ‘Long John’ for his insane drive Daly is known for his laid back approach to the fairways and his unusual diet.

While he has also become renowned for his love of wings restaurant Hooters.

And fans declared Daly’s brilliant persona was one of the main reasons they were tuning in for this weekend’s Open clash.

One said: “He is the only reason I watch golf. He is fun to watch and I love to hear his stories about drinking all night long and going out playing the next day.”

Another declared: “Peak male athletic performance right there.”

Daly also took to X to support Trump after his failed assassination attempt on Sunday.

He wrote: “President Trump is one of the toughest men I know! God bless him and his family right now. Also, sending out prayers to the fallen attendees!

“This is devastating—our revenge coming in November at the polls!”

He will begin his 26th visit to The Open at 8am on Thursday, alongside fellow compatriot Stewart Cink, who won the 2009 title.
