Cypriot MEPs host Cyprus problem awareness campaign

Cypriot MEPs, members of the EPP, Loucas Fourlas and Michalis Hadjipantelas, organised an event to mark 50 years since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, with an aim to raise awareness among their colleagues.

On Tuesday afternoon, in Strasbourg, MEPs had the opportunity to be photographed holding placards about Cyprus.

A video will also be playing on European Parliament screens, while the plenary is in session, with information about Cyprus and its history and how the two MEPs – children at the time – experienced it first hand.

Fourlas said MEPs from all political groups had their photos taken with the placards.

“Dozens of colleagues have sent the message that in this trying time we are not alone, we have the European family on our side,” he said.

Hadjipantelas said “the whole EPP family is with us, we feel the support.”
