Kentfield caretaker accused of sexual assault, kidnapping

Authorities arrested a Kentfield caretaker accused of sexually assaulting a patient and kidnapping her daughter.

The suspect was arrested at a home on Almenar Drive after he tried to flee on Sunday night, Marin sheriff’s Sgt. Adam Schermerhorn said.

The man was hired to care for a senior with memory issues. The woman’s daughter visited the home, where she allegedly saw the suspect sexually assaulting her mother, Schermerhorn said.

Authorities said the suspect then choked the daughter until she passed out and later threatened her with a knife after she woke up. Schermerhorn reported that the victim was held captive for two hours before she persuaded the suspect to release her. The daughter then left and called 911.

Schermerhorn said that the suspect went home to Rohnert Park, but later returned to the Kentfield residence. Deputies were there when he arrived and took him into custody.

Yuimi Zingkhai, 23, was arrested on suspicion of 14 offenses including attempted murder, robbery, sexual assault, kidnapping, and battery with serious bodily injury. He was booked into the Marin County Jail where his bail was set at $25,000, according to jail records.

Schermerhorn said that the bail amount is for the domestic violence charge while most of the suspect’s other charges were set at no-bail.
