WATCH: State Supt. Ryan Walters sits down for interview at 2024 Republican National Convention

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (KFOR) — On day two of the 2024 Republican National Convention, Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters sat down for an interview to discuss his views on school choice, the role of the federal government and utilizing the Bible in schools.

Since taking office in January 2023, Walters has become a polarizing figure in his role as State Superintendent, facing opposition from both Democrats and fellow Republicans at the state level.

Over the course of less than two years, Walters has been involved in several legal battles over issues including banning books in public school libraries, clawing back teacher bonuses and prohibiting students from altering gender records.

The Republican National Convention continues through Friday, July 18.
