Trump rages against Biden's Supreme Court reforms and says Dems want to 'Play the Ref'

Former President Donald Trump raged on his Truth Social platform on Tuesday in response to President Joe Biden coming out in favor of new reforms to the Supreme Court.

In response to the wholesale gutting of several key decades-old precedents by the Republican-majority Supreme Court — which includes three Trump-appointed justices — as well as a series of ethics scandals surrounding gifts and improper disclosures for some of the right-wing justices, Biden proposed term limits for the justices, a binding code of ethics, and a constitutional amendment explicitly overruling their recent decision that presidents have a presumption of criminal immunity for official acts.

“I’m going to need your help on the Supreme Court, because I’m about to come out — I don’t want to prematurely announce it — but I’m about to come out with a major initiative on limiting the court. … I’ve been working with constitutional scholars for the last three months, and I need some help,” Biden told the Congressional Progressive Caucus, according to The Washington Post.

None of this sat well with Trump.

"The Radical Left Democrats are desperately trying to 'Play the Ref' by calling for an illegal and unConstitutional attack on our SACRED United States Supreme Court," Trump wrote. "The reason that these Communists are so despondent is that their unLawful Witch Hunts are failing everywhere. The Democrats are attempting to interfere in the Presidential Election, and destroy our Justice System, by attacking their Political Opponent, ME, and our Honorable Supreme Court."

"We have to fight for our Fair and Independent Courts, and protect our Country. MAGA2024!" he added.

This also comes after Judge Aileen Cannon, a far-right district judge in Florida appointed by Trump himself, threw out the classified documents criminal case against him, citing a concurrence by Justice Clarence Thomas to find that special counsel Jack Smith was unlawfully appointed as prosecutor. Smith has already vowed to appeal this decision, calling it a complete reversal of every other court's ruling on the matter.
