Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan LIKELY to Make Comeback to India’s Squad For Sri Lanka Series?

Shreyas Iyer was the talk of the town for the Kolkata Knight Riders as he led his franchise to the title.

Mumbai: There is much buzz around the announcement of the Indian T20I and ODI squad for the tour of Sri Lanka. While speculations are rife over spots, it would be interesting to see if BCCI favours the return of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. The two cricketers have not played for India for quite some time and hence all eyes would be on the squad announcement to see they find a spot or not. While Kishan has not done much lately with the number of games he played in the IPL, Shreyas Iyer was the talk of the town for the Kolkata Knight Riders as he led his franchise to the title.

One understands that Iyer stands a better chance of making the squad as newly-appointed coach Gautam Gambhir has worked closely with him and that should work in the favour of the KKR captain.

Meanwhile, Gambhir gave an emotional tribute to all the KKR fans through a two-minute and 30-second video on Tuesday as he embarks on a new journey with the Indian cricket team. Following his return to KKR for IPL 2024 as a mentor, the Kolkata-based franchise lifted their third IPL title, thus paving the way for Gambhir to be considered as the perfect fit to replace Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the Indian cricket team.

Notably, it was under Gambhir’s leadership, KKR won two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014. Incidentally, the southpaw who was a part of two World Cup wins, couldn’t say No to an India job, thereby leaving his favourite IPL franchise after just one year in mentorship.
