I was sick of paying thousands to rent a flat so built my own tiny home on a BIKE – I’m saving £1.1k a month

A MAN has revealed how he’s saved himself over £1,000 a month after building a tiny home on a bike.

Ryan took to his TikTok page to share a video showing off his unique accommodation, after revealing he was inspired to come up with something to help those living in homeless encampments.

The lack of affordable housing in Canada has led to a growing number of people living in tents or informal shelters because they have nowhere else to do.

But with his “social project” – Tinytinyhomes.ca – Ryan is hoping to manufacture the bike homes to help get encampment residents “mobile and away from the parks”.

The project doesn’t have funding as yet, and is currently in the development stage.

It cost Ryan around £2,800 to build, but once it was finished, it was a standalone property.

It even has a toilet, which is stored underneath the bed, as well as a microwave and a desk.

The sofa turns into a comfy bed, and there are solar panels on the roof that allow him to have power inside.

The only thing the home doesn’t have is running water.

The average property price for Ontario, where Ryan lives, would be about £1,100 a month for something a similar size with bills.

So it’s no wonder people are keen to further explore his concept, and even see if they might be eligible for one of the homes themselves.

“I want one. Take my money,” one wrote.

“Imagine RENT FREE,” another said.

“This could put so many people into a less precarious situation,” a third praised.

“Somewhere to have some rest and security, even being able to have transportation to possible work opportunities.”

“Minimalist life right there,” someone else wrote.

“That’s so cool!” another gushed.

“Darn. I like that!! self built??” someone else asked.

Others even pointed out how good the “soundproofing” for the home was – noting the traffic and noises of the general hustle and bustle stopped immediately when inside the bike home.

“Badass setup,” one wrote.

“Literally my dream,” another agreed.

As a third said: “Totally cool dude! you are winning at life!”
