The General Passport Office of Afghanistan has established three passport distribution centers in Kabul: Darul Aman, Qala-e-Zaman Khan, and Tangi Tarkhil.

Abdul Karim Haseeb, the head of the General Passport Office, stated that these centers were inaugurated on Wednesday, July 17th.

Mr. Haseeb mentioned that these centers would provide services for up to 2,000 applicants daily.

He emphasized that the office has addressed 99% of applicants’ requests, and the capacity for passport distribution in the centers and provinces is set to increase to 12,000 passports per day.

According to the statistics of this office, over two million passports were distributed across the country last year, generating revenues of up to 12 billion Afghanis in this area.

The first center, Darul Aman, is located near the former Parliament building, the second center, Qala-e-Zaman Khan, is in Shadab Zafar City, and the third in Tangi Tarkhil, previously associated with the Legal Directorate of the Ministry of Justice.

Meanwhile, the number of passport applicants has significantly increased over the past two years, with thousands of people visiting these centers in Kabul and provinces nationwide to obtain passports.

According to the report, a significant portion of Afghanistan’s population has expressed a desire to leave the country since the Taliban assumed power. This sentiment stems from various factors, including the lack of financial stability and job opportunities under the current regime.

Additionally, many cite oppressive policies imposed by the Taliban as a contributing factor driving people to seek refuge elsewhere.

The deteriorating economic conditions and stringent social restrictions imposed by the Taliban have created an environment of uncertainty and hardship for Afghan citizens. As a result, many people feel compelled to consider migration as a means to secure a better future for themselves and their families amidst concerns about the country’s economic prospects and personal safety.

Meanwhile, since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan, embassies abroad have halted the distribution of passports, leaving many Afghans outside the country unable to obtain this essential document.
