West Ham Boast Significant Sell-on For In-demand Sunderland Star

Sunderland would owe significant money to West Ham United if they sell Pierre Ekwah to Udinese in the ongoing transfer window, according to ExWHUEmployee.

Udinese are pushing to sign the defensive midfielder this summer and have already sent a formal proposal to Sunderland.

The Black Cats are pondering over whether to sell Ekwah, who is believed to be keen to move to Italy.

The Frenchman joined Sunderland from West Ham in January last year and the Hammers have a financial stake in the deal happening.

It has been claimed that the Hammers inserted a 35 per cent sell-on clause in the agreement to sell him to Sunderland 18 months ago.

Sunderland would have to pay more than a third of the fee they receive for Ekwah to West Ham.

It is unclear whether the Black Cats are prepared to accept the offer they have received from Udinese at this stage.

However, they would owe a significant chunk of the fee to the Hammers if Ekwah leaves for Italy.
