I could talk all day about hair growth – mine goes past my tailbone, I threw away an old tool & stick to a crucial step

A CURLY-HAIRED woman has revealed how she grew her color-damaged locks past her tailbone.

She said a “crucial” change when styling alongside using the right products improved her hair health.

Cezara Robu is rapidly gaining subscribers on YouTube, where she shares beauty and wellness videos.

The 26-year-old, from London, went viral on the platform when she made a video about her long hair.

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she revealed how she repaired her damaged tresses.

TAKE A SHORTCUT

Robu said her hair was naturally “very curly and big” growing up.

However, using a blow dryer to stretch her curls throughout high school caused the health of her locks to deteriorate.

“Back then straight hair was very popular and, while I didn’t want to straighten it, I still aimed for a looser curl pattern,” she said.

“In university, I began coloring my hair which impacted its health even more.

“I didn’t know how to properly take care of colored hair, so the health of my curls deteriorated.”

She decided to get a big chop in March 2022 after seeing other content creators flaunting their “beautiful, bouncy” curls.

“I really wanted to reset my hair and cut off all the damage and visible color growth,” she said.

“It took maybe one and a half years to grow it back, which was a lot faster than I expected.”

STIMULATE STRANDS

Robu said she could spend the “whole day” listing the steps she took to stimulate rapid hair growth.

“Firstly, I stopped coloring my hair,” she said.

“I occasionally use semi-permanent black dye to intensify the dark color I have naturally, and by occasionally I mean every 12 months.

“The last time I dyed my hair was last spring, and it has all washed out by now.”

Robu said she also assessed the tools that she was using to style her locks each day.

“I threw away my old hairbrushes with ball-tipped bristles that were contributing to so much breakage,” she said.

“I purchased one that’s best fitted for curly hair and big tangles, the Wet Detangler from Tangle Teezer.”

Staying away from heat has been a crucial step in maintaining the health of my hair.

The Wet Detangler from Tangle Teezer has a whopping 4.6-star rating out of a possible 5 on Amazon.

Robu said she further adapted her routine after research revealed she has high porosity hair.

“This meant that protein was going to be essential in my hair health and I switched to a gel with protein,” she said.

“I also started double cleansing which ensured product build-up was properly removed off my lengths and the scalp stayed clean and healthy.”

HEATLESS STYLING

Robu said her tresses are now at their “healthiest” but she’s still on a journey to learn more about haircare.

“My hair is definitely the longest it’s ever been,” she said.

“When wet, it reaches past my tailbone and when it’s straight, I accidentally sit on it often.”

She revealed that she only gets salon trims every one to two years as she prefers to get rid of split ends at home by herself.

She said going several times a year would be “counter-intuitive” as all the new growth would be cut off.

Robu said another key factor for retaining her hair length has been limiting how often she uses heat styling tools.

“I used to be a fan of air drying until I researched about the negatives of having your hair wet for long periods, so I switched to diffusing and air drying,” she said.

“I use my diffuser every wash day on low to medium heat and make sure that I don’t touch the hair with it.

“Other than that, I maybe straighten my hair every 12 months or so.

“I prefer how it looks curly anyway, so it’s not a struggle to stay away from straighteners or heat tools.

POWERFUL PRODUCTS

Robu revealed that she has a selection of haircare essentials that she uses to keep her curls looking their best.

“I love wearing a satin bonnet every night, it’s a game-changer in keeping my curls looking beautiful throughout the week,” she said.

“If I misplace it, I won’t go to sleep unless I find it.

“In terms of styling, I love a light-medium hold gel with protein, like the OnlyCurls Enhancing Curl gel or the Bounce Curl Light Hold creme gel.

“I don’t use them every day, but they are key to holding my curls in shape throughout the week.”
