CHELSEA star Wesley Fofana has been targeted with disgusting racist abuse after slamming team-mate Enzo Fernandez on social media.
The defender hit out after Argentina players chanted a vile song about the French national team following their Copa America win.
Chelsea’s £105million midfielder Fernandez filmed the disgraceful scenes in an Instagram Live from Argentina’s bus – leading to a major backlash.
It saw £75m centre-back Fofana take to social media, where he described his team-mate’s antics as “uninhibited racism.”
But the one-time France international was subjected to disgusting racist abuse by some supporters.
It resulted in Fofana switching off the comments section.
Yet some vile trolls still took their bile to some of his older posts.
While the French Football Federation has threatened legal action against their Argentinian counterparts.
Fernandez has since apologised in a grovelling statement.
But a growing rift is now emerging at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues’ large French contingent reportedly furious with Fernandez’s behaviour.
Stars like Axel Disasi and Christopher Nkunku have also reportedly unfollowed Fernandez on social media.
And new Blues boss Enzo Maresca will have to work as hard on dressing room unity this summer as he will on implementing his new tactics.
Chelsea are now set to investigate Fernandez after yesterday’s controversial video emerge.
A club statement confirmed: “Chelsea Football Club finds all forms of discriminatory behaviour completely unacceptable.
“We are proud to be a diverse, inclusive club where people from all cultures, communities and identities feel welcome.
“We acknowledge and appreciate our player’s public apology and will use this as an opportunity to educate.
“The Club has instigated an internal disciplinary procedure.”
Fernandez has since issued an apology, saying: “I want to apologise sincerely for a video posted on my Instagram channel during the national team celebrations.
“The song includes highly offensive language and there is absolutely no excuse for these words.
“I stand against discrimination in all forms and apologise for getting caught up in the euphoria of our Copa America celebrations.
“That video, that moment, those words, do not reflect my beliefs or my character. I am truly sorry.”
