Local self-governance budgets approved

The district self-governance organisations (Eoas) budgets were approved by cabinet on Wednesday.

The cabinet approved the budgets for all the districts for the period of July 1, 2024, until December 31, 2024.

The budgets of all the Eoas are in surplus, with the Famagusta Eoa having a €4,052,110 surplus, the Larnaca Eoa a €2,427,391, the Limassol Eoa a €6,317,949, the Nicosia Eoa a €12,289,056 and the Paphos Eoa a €4,667,224.

In addition, in relation to personnel issues, the cabinet approved the creation of the top posts of the five Eoas.

T0hese posts concern the director (pay class A15 and A16), the director of technical services (A15(i)), the financial director (A15(i)) and the director of development licencing (A15(i)). These posts are considered necessary to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the newly created agencies.

Each Eoa is responsible for preparing the first budget for the second half of 2024 and submitting it to the cabinet for approval. Under the legislation, the budget for this period is not submitted to parliament for approval.
