Suryakumar Yadav Secures 2nd, Jaiswal Climbs in T20I Rankings
The ICC T20I batting rankings, which were released on Wednesday, have young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in sixth place and big-hitting Suryakumar Yadav in second place as the highest-ranked Indian player.
The T20 batting rankings were updated after India’s recent 4-1 series victory over Zimbabwe, and Ruturaj Gaikwad fell one spot to the ninth spot.
With 141 runs in the series, Jaiswal emerged victorious, moving up four spots to take second place, behind only Suryakumar and Australia’s Travis Head, who is rated first.
Shubman Gill, who led India against Zimbabwe in the absence of senior players and was the leading run-scorer of the series with 170 runs from five innings, moved up a whopping 36 places to 37th.
No Indian features in the top 10 of the T20I bowlers rankings. Axar Patel, who was rested for the Zimbabwe series, dropped four places to 13th spot.
Washington Sundar, a spinner, and Mukesh Kumar, a fast bowler, both advanced.
Mukesh, who took eight wickets in three games, is now ranked 46th after moving up 36 spots. Washington has moved up 21 spots to 73rd place after taking eight wickets in five games.
Adil Rashid of England is currently atop the T20I bowlers’ table, ahead of Anrich Nortje of South Africa and Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka.
India’s Hardik Pandya fell four spots to sixth in the T20I all-rounders’ rankings, while Axar fell one spot to thirteenth.
Shivam Dube (43rd) and Washington (41st) have moved up eight and thirty-five spots, respectively, to take the 41st and 43rd rankings.
Hasaranga of Sri Lanka remains at the top of the all-rounders list, ahead of Marcus Stoinis of Australia and Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe.
