Dr. Miriam Adebibe offers technologically advanced skin treatments at her East London-based aesthetics clinic.

“The eyes are often the first part of the face to show signs of aging and can also be a difficult area to treat because it is so delicate,” she said.

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she shared tips for rejuvenating skin around the eyes.

Dr. Adebibe said it’s possible to still look tired even after a good night’s sleep.

She blamed heavily hooded eyelids, tear trough hollows, puffy under-eye bags, dark circles, and wrinkles.

However, the good news is that there are different treatments that can help.

“Micro-needling has 30 years of brilliant evidence behind it as a rejuvenating skin treatment,” she said.

“Tiny needles are used to cause thousands of micro-injuries to the skin, stimulating the skin to produce elastin and collagen while improving all skin functions.”

She said it has countless benefits for the face, including improving the texture of the skin around the eyes.

BANISH UNDER-EYE BAGS

According to the pro, dermal fillers have traditionally been the “main treatment” for reducing the appearance of under-eye bags.

However, it’s a risky procedure that could cause further complications.

“If you suffer from eye bags, do make sure your botox treatments are with an experienced practitioner,” she said.

“The precise location of injection around the eyes can mean the difference between looking fresher or even more puffy under the eyes.”

BRIGHTEN DARK CIRCLES

The “most exciting” alternative to dermal fillers, according to Dr. Adebibe, is polynucleotide treatment.

“These fragments of DNA instruct your own cells to regenerate themselves and are then quickly kicked out of your body,” she explained.

“The skin feels tighter, looks smoother, and the tissues below it are more plump.”

I would opt for active skincare to reduce the production of extra melanin.

The treatment can also be used for specific types of dark circles.

“For those under eye hollows, the dark circles may be caused by the appearance of vessels under the thin skin,” she said.

“In this situation, dermal fillers and polynucleotides may work best.

“For those with dark circles due to pigment change within the skin itself, I would opt for active skincare to reduce the production of extra melanin in this area.

“IPL treatment [Intense Pulsed Light therapy] can also be helpful.”

She also recommended skincare products with active ingredients that stimulate collagen and can be used in addition to SPF protection.
